Description

A great unexpected return: the extra virgin olive oil is back again! Once a leading crop of Bologna’s territory, this tour offers you the great opportunity to expereince the green gold of the Mediterranean diet.

Oliveto, Olivella street, Predia Olivata… toponymy speaks for itself: there are plenty of locations in Emilia-Romagna that are (or were) connected to the growth of olive oil crops.

The varieties grown here today, the NostranaGhiacciola and Correggiolo, are just the same the ancient Romans used to grow: ancient, traditional crops that have been awarded with several national and international acknowledgements and prizes, such as the Japanese Olive Prize, the Slow Food prize and The 3 Leaves by the Guida Oli d’Italia Gambero Rosso prize.

The local olive oil production is small but gives birth to very fine, exquisite product: with scents of tomato, thislte, and artichoke; highly percectible bitter and spicy notes; fruity fragrance; important quantity of polyphenoles inside… this is how local olive oil is described by experts.

Our tastings will include a wide range of precious extra virgins, from the Eastern Imola hills to the production from the Regional Geological Park of Natural Chalk Cliffs, to the important production area around the ancient Roman ruins of Claterna in a great sensory experience and an exploratory journey.
